I am a math educator with a passion for teaching and inspiring students to explore the fascinating world of math. I have a background in mathematics and education. I strongly believe that everyone can enjoy and learn math, no matter how challenging it may seem at first.
Currently, I am working as a research associate with Dr. Heidi Carlone on a critical place-based science learning project, where I develop curricula for middle school students to explore eco-justice through their engagement with a local creek. I also work on developing research frameworks and research protocols for this project.
Guided by the sociocultural view of learning, I have a broad range of research interests. I am interested in studying shifts in students’ STEM identity as they engage in various activities in different learning environments. I am also interested in community-based learning and place-based learning. I enjoy exploring ways to integrate art, play, and technology with math and science learning. I am also interested in examining the tensions raised in social-justice context and supporting youths’ agency in civic participation.
In my free time, I enjoy traveling, dancing, baking, drawing, and playing the piano.
